Paste your gradebook to fill the table, or add each assignment by hand and pick its category.
3. Try different scores
Change a score or add a future assignment to see your class grade and letter grade update. Your classes are saved on your device.
How to calculate your college grade
Most college courses weight their categories. A syllabus might say homework is 20%, quizzes are 20% and exams are 60%. You find your average in each category, multiply it by the category’s weight and add the results.
Weighted grade = (category 1 average × weight 1) + (category 2 average × weight 2) + …
For example, homework at 95%, quizzes at 85% and exams at 80% give 19 + 17 + 48 = 84%. Set each category’s percentage in the calculator above, add your assignments, and it does the weighting for you.
Before the final
Leave the final exam out until it has a score and the calculator shows your grade so far. Then add the final as an upcoming assignment and try different scores to see what you need for the grade you want. The final grade calculator guide has the formula.
Your classes stay on your device
Each class, with its categories, percentages and assignments, is saved on your device so you can come back to it later.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my college grade?
Find your average in each category, multiply it by the category’s weight as a decimal and add the results. Homework at 95% with a 20% weight contributes 19 points. The weighted grade guide has a full example.
What is a weighted grade?
A weighted grade counts each category for a set percentage of the final grade, however many points it contains. Exams worth 60% of the grade matter more than homework worth 20%, even if homework has more assignments.
What if my category weights do not add up to 100%?
Check your syllabus for a missing category such as participation or extra credit. If you only have grades in some categories, divide your weighted total by the combined weight of those categories to see your grade so far.
How do I calculate my grade before the final?
Leave the final out and add up the weighted points for the graded categories, then divide by their combined weight. The semester grade without the final guide shows the steps.
Does the college grade calculator save my classes?
Yes. Your classes, categories and assignments are saved on your device.
